Sriracha Glazed Salmon

Be prepared to have your mouth water! Seared to perfection and glazed with a spicy and sweet Sriracha glaze, this easy 30-minute meal will have you in a food coma! One bite just won’t be enough!

Spicy, sweet, and Flavorful!

Flavor is something that I will never compromise on! There are a ton of recipes that are easy to do, but they lack seasoning and flavor. There are way too many techniques and ingredients out there to enhance flavor.

My Easy Sriracha Glazed Salmon recipe is not only easy-to-make, but it also doesn’t compromise on FLAVOR! These salmon filets are seared to perfection and basted in spicy Sriracha, honey, and vinegar glaze. Did I mention, that it’s a one-skillet recipe! You won’t be disappointed with these flaky and tasty filets.

REASONS WHY YOU NEED THIS RECIPE!

EASY TO MAKE. This recipe is a simple season, sear, and baste! Once you season your filets they immediately go into your skillet for searing. Once golden brown, you can remove the filets from the pan and make the glaze. Once the glaze is thickened, all you have to do is baste, serve, and devour!

IT TAKES NO TIME AT ALL! With all that I have going on, I need a few simple recipes that I can easily fix in 30 – 45 minutes. This recipe right here will take you no more than 30 minutes! The main part you have to focus on is the final cooked temperature of the fish.

ONE-SKILLET MEAL. Now, I know many of us hate doing tons of dishes. I have never been a fan of them myself. The great thing about this meal is that you only need one skillet! The glaze is cooked right after the salmon is seared. No extra dishes for you tonight!

IT CAN BE MADE AHEAD OF TIME. This meal is great if you love to meal prep! To make this ahead of time, I would season and sear your filets ahead of time. The middle will still be undercooked. You can cool the filets down and refrigerate them. Make the glaze when you plan on starting your meal prepping.

Sriracha Glazed Salmon Ingredients:

This easy one-skillet recipe will become a regular in your weeknight dinner rotation! The salmon was bright, flavorful, and very colorful! The ingredients are also very easy to use and find.

For this meal, especially, I suggest using as many fresh ingredients as possible! Let’s walk through them to see how!

  • Salmon Filets: Salmon is such a versatile fish! It can be baked, grilled, seared, and so much more. You want to make sure that your filets are cut evenly for even cooking. Fish can easily get overcooked, so make sure to only cook it to 145°F internally.

  • EVOO: I always like to drizzle a little oil on my fish filets before seasoning. It helps the seasoning to stick a lot better. Plus, it aids in the overall sear. Vegetable or canola oil will as well if you do not have extra virgin olive oil.

  • Kosher Salt & Ground Black Pepper: Since we will be basting the salmon in a glaze, I kept the seasoning pretty simple. Most of the time, all a good piece of fish needs is good old salt and pepper. You don’t want to lose any of those fresh sea notes by overseasoning.

  • Ground Ginger: To add a bit of flair and dimension to the fish, I added some ground ginger to the seasoning mix. It adds some additional brightness to the fish. You can exchange the ground ginger for a teaspoon of minced ginger if you prefer fresh.

  • Yellow Onion: Onions make recipes so much better in my opinion. The added texture and flavor added from the onions were delicious.

  • Bell Peppers: The peppers added some extra color and texture to this recipe. Sauteed with the onions made these even better. Try playing around with the colors you use! The color combo with the glaze will turn out great!

  • Garlic: When there are chopped onions, 9 times out of 10, minced garlic will follow. I personally cannot think of a better duo than onions and garlic. Plus, since this recipe is Asian-Inspired, garlic is a must!

  • Sriracha: If you have never had Sriracha before then you are definitely missing out on a mouth full of flavor! It’s tangy, spicy, and slightly sweet with a kick of garlic. It has the consistency of ketchup and easily mixes well into the glaze recipe.

  • Honey: To combat some of the spicinesses of the Sriracha, I added in some honey. The honey also makes this glaze a glaze. A glaze usually has some type of sweetener or uses the natural sugars in some of the ingredients used.

  • Water: This glaze gets pretty thick very quickly if you don’t monitor your heat level. To help thin the glaze out, I added about a ¼ cup of water. It definitely makes a difference in the end.

  • Rice Wine Vinegar: Adding a little acid to any glaze brightens it up immediately. Rice wine vinegar was a must for this recipe. It’s a mild vinegar that is slightly sweet. You only need a small amount, so don’t go overboard.

  • Scallions: In a lot of Asian recipes you will have 3 main ingredients: ginger, garlic, and scallions (green onions). The scallions add some color at the end as a garnish. Make sure to not slice them too thin.

How to make Sriracha Glazed Salmon Filets:

I am always down for a simple and easy recipe! Most of the time, the simpler the recipe, the better it tastes. You will want to make this recipe over and over again because of how simple it is.

This recipe is a perfect one-pan dish and will have you wanting more and more! The full written recipe is below, but here’s an overview.

  • STEP 1: Season the Salmon Filets. Pat-dry the salmon fillets with a paper towel. Drizzle with a small amount of extra virgin olive oil on both sides of each filet. Season each fillet with kosher salt, ground black pepper, and ground ginger. Make sure to gently press the seasoning onto each filet.

  • STEP 2: Sear the Filets. In a large skillet, heat 2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil on medium-high. When the oil is fully heated, sear the fillets on both sides until golden brown (about 2 minutes on each side).

  • STEP 3: Saute the Vegetables. Remove the fillets from the skillet and place them on a plate or sheet pan. Turn the heat down to medium heat. Add the chopped onions and bell peppers and saute until soft (about 5 minutes).

  • STEP 4: Make the Glaze. Add the minced garlic. Cook until fragrant (about 1 minute). Add the Sriracha, honey, water, and rice wine vinegar. Mix until well combined. Bring the glaze to a simmer and allow it to reduce by ¼ (about 3 - 5 minutes)

  • STEP 5: Baste & Finish the Filets. Add the fillets back into the pan. Baste the fillets in the sauce until they reach 145°F internally. Remove the pan from the heat and garnish with chopped scallions. Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!
